Conference: Matricellular Proteins in Respiratory-Tract Immunomodulation and Infection
Wednesday, January 19, 2022, 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM EDT
Category: Events

Organizers: Douglas Hamilton, Ph.D., University of Western Ontario, Canada. Kurt Hankenson, D.V.M., Ph.D., University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI

Summary: This focused catalyst conference will explore the role of matricellular proteins in immune modulation and pathogen responsiveness in the lung and respiratory system. Matricellular proteins are a functional group of secreted proteins that have been shown to regulate healing and inflammatory responses, but potential roles in pulmonary immunology are only now being elucidated. This conference will focus on understanding the role of matricellular proteins in pulmonary immunology and responses to infection. This is particularly timely with our need to better understand the pathophysiology of Sars-Cov-19 and long-term sequalae of viral induced inflammation. This conference will cover immunomodulatory mechanisms, matricellular protein effects on pathogens, and clinical observations about matricellular proteins.
